About SLANT

The SLANT System for Structured Language Training® is a nationally accredited multisensory structured language training program combining professional development for teachers and systematic curriculum materials for struggling readers.

  • About The SLANT System®

The SLANT System®  is a research-derived  program with instructional content and instructional design developed in accordance with the research and best practice recommendations of the  National Reading Panel.

The SLANT System® professional development is designed to prepare teachers to teach reading, spelling, and writing skills to individuals who have been unsuccessful using traditional approaches, or who are considered "at risk". The SLANT System® and its program materials can be used in Supplementary (Tier 2) and Intensive Intervention (Tier 3) support programs in a Response to Intervention model.  The SLANT System® is also effective as a supplement in general education classrooms to help provide balance to a literature-based reading approach.

The SLANT System® is an effective intervention for both Tier 2 and Tier 3 students. See the data

"I truly think it (my SLANT Training) is the best training I have ever had in my entire career.  My most severe students continue to amaze me when they make strides that I didn’t think they would have made before my training."

Having a coach has been extremely helpful.  I have been able to talk to her about individual students as well as teaching practices.
