SLANT System^® Materials 

The SLANT System materials are designed to promote explicit and systematic instruction of the structure of the English language.  This includes instruction in letter/sound correspondences, language concepts and spelling rules, and much more.  The Program is divided into 7 progressive Stages taking students from basic reading and spelling skills to advanced skills using Greek & Latin prefixes, suffixes, and roots. 

Each Stage includes a variety of materials to provide practice with new concepts in isolation (word lists, both real and nonsense) and in context.  Reading passages are all 100% decodable and include a variety of both narrative and expository styles. Reading passages are designed to give ample practice opportunities and appeal to a wide range of abilities and interests.
